Every year libraries, schools, book shops, authors, illustrators and storytellers all around Australia celebrate children’s literature during Children’s Book Week. This year, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River libraries celebrated by hosting sensational storyteller Clare Stace at both Augusta and Margaret River libraries.
Thanks to sponsorship by the Children’s Book Council of Australia, Healthway and the Go for 2 & 5 message, Clare entertained over 200 children from 5 local schools and home school students. Clare entranced the children as she wove wonderful stories with string and performed silly billy tales. The audience participated with enthusiasm to guide the stories with some very interesting twists and turns.
The theme for Children’s Book Week 2013 is Read across the universe and the Shire libraries have a special display of items that were shortlisted for children’s book of the year awards.
