Everybody loves food! Talking about growing, sourcing, preparation and enjoyment of fresh food is a passion held by many. Come along and indulge your passion with Sophie Zalokar, author of ‘Food of the Southern Forests’.

Sophie Zalokar came from the Barossa Valley to live in the West and trained as a chef under Australian food icon Maggie Beer at ‘The Pheasant Farm’ restaurant. She has settled in Pemberton and offers cooking school and dinner events throughout the year, promoting produce grown in the Southern Forests region. She has developed recipes for Homes and Living magazine and provided a weekly recipe in the West Australian newspaper for the past 11 years. Her first book was ‘PicNic: outdoor feasts in the Australian landscape’.

Her new beautiful cook book ‘Food of the Southern Forests’ is arranged by produce, the first chapter being Apples, Pears & Quinces. Recipes follow a local history of the product and the families who have persevered to farm in the Southern Forests region. Come along to be inspired to get cooking and eating seasonal.
