“My style of painting is based on realism and represents Australian landscapes that have drawn me to them emotionally and challenged me to record their beauty.  All paintings are hand drawn by me from reference materials and photos. I work in acrylics and oils and enjoy mixing my own colour pallets to identify with nature and its moods.

I began painting after I retired and after completing several units at TAFE. I studied under well-known local artist Peter Scott for several years, whose style of painting I really admire. Some of the framed paintings are for children and represent Australian animals that are not easily seen, on backgrounds of where you might find them.”

2019 – Year of the Public Domain

Did you know that under previous Australian law, unpublished materials, including letters, diaries and shipping manifests,  remained in copyright in perpetuity?

This meant they were locked behind laws requiring you to seek permission from an often impossible to identify copyright owner before you could publish, adapt or even copy them.

Due to recent changes to that law, millions of items from our national collections – from Captain Cook’s carrot marmalade recipe and Henry Lawson’s letters to war posters – are now free to use.

To celebrate, Australia’s libraries and archives are declaring 2019 the Year of the Public Domain.

For more information about these changes to copyright law, click here to visit Australian Libraries Copyright Committee.

Teddy Bears sleepover at the library

On Tuesday night, over 10 teddy bears stayed at the Margaret River Library after their picnic. The teddys had a lot of fun during the night at the library and children were given books containing photos of last night’s events.

We thought you might like a sneak peak of some of what went on….

Happy School holidays and we hope to see you at the library soon.
