There are too many languages to list here – from French to Swahili, we’re certain you’ll find exactly the language you’re looking for. Learn on your PC or download the app to your mobile device.

Year of the Rat Mask Decorating Activity

In preparation for Chinese New Year celebrations at the library, we have started the ‘Decorate a Rat Mask’ craft activity. This is how to join in:

  • Collect your mask from Margaret River or Augusta Library
  • Decorate your mask and return it to the Margaret River Library for display in the foyer by Monday 20th January
  • The Chinese New Year committee will pick 3 favourite masks and these will be announced at the Chinese New Year Celebration on Wednesday 29th January at 5.30pm

Summer School holidays at your shire libraries

All school holiday activities are FREE at the Shire Libraries, however bookings are essential and children must be accompanied by an adult for each session.

Lego Club!

Join our hour long Lego club session to take on new challenges with all the Lego provided. Best suited to children over 5 years and bookings are essential.

Wild Woven Tales with Cynamon Aeria

Come along to this workshop of stories  and woven artwork by a local storyteller and artist. Children will listen to stories brought to life with woven characters .They will then be able to help create a woven sculpture for the library garden and make simple woven artwork for themselves.

This workshop is suited for participants aged 6 years and over. Adults accompanying children are very welcome to participate in the workshop.

Teddy Bear’s picnic storytime and Library sleepover for teddies

Bring in your Teddy bears for a special Teddy Bears picnic storytime, then the teddies can have a sleepover and we will take photos of their adventures overnight in the library. Storytime is aimed at children under 6 years old however any child can bring in their teddy for the sleepover.

Summer Reading Rabbits

If you are in year one at school, the summer holidays is the perfect time to visit the library, choose some books and get some Reading Rabbit stamps on your card. Over the summer holidays, bonus prizes will be given for a book review, based on a book you have read recently.

Summer Book Bandicoots

For all those aged in year two at school and over, Book Bandicoots rewards kids for reading, especially over the summer holidays! As a summer holiday treat we are giving away bonus prizes for extra book reviews completed, just see library staff for more details.

Reading Rabbits and Book Bandicoots are an initiative of the Shire of Augusta Margaret River Libraries and kindly supported by Rotary Club of Margaret River and the Margaret River Bookshop

Regular Baby Rhyme Time, Storytime and Toddler Tales sessions are having a break over the school holidays.  Sessions are resuming for term 1,  the week starting  Monday 3rd February 2020.

 

Libraries Christmas closure dates

The Augusta and Margaret River Libraries will be closed for the Christmas break.

Both branches will close at 12 noon on Tuesday 24 December, and re-open at 10am on Thursday 2 January.

Our online resources will be available for the duration of the break – click here to explore our range of e-books, downloadable audio-books, online courses and movie streaming services.

Remember, you can borrow up to 30 items, so be sure to stock up! We extend our borrowing period over Christmas, so no items will be due back during the break.

Woven basket by Cynamon Aeria is delivered to the library

Cynamon conducted a twine weaving demonstration at the library in September and the participants learned the weaving technique and how to recycle fabric into lengths of cord for weaving. The cords from the workshop have been upcycled into the basket that has been presented to the library to hold the Hand Puppet collection.
