Hot tips on how to set up a MyGovID account

We are working very hard to help as many people as we can, as quickly as we can. In the meantime here are some useful links that might help you.

  • MyGov and MyGovID are NOT the same things.
  • MyGov is accessed on the internet browser as it is a website where you can access Government Services such as Medicare or ATO.
  • MyGovID is used to verify your identity using an app called MyGovID.

Before starting close all open apps to make it easier to switch between MyGovID and ServiceWA during setup.

You only need 2 forms of ID – We recommend Drivers Licence and Medicare. You don’t need to use the scanning option.  You can manually enter the details as they appear on your cards.

  • Android users MUST HAVE Chrome set as their default browser – change in settings
  • Android phones need to have a version 10 or higher. Apple iPhone needs iOS 14 or higher. (Older versions: you can still have a vaccination certificate saved in your Apple Wallet/MedicareExpress, or printed.)
  • Enter your Driver’s Licence details first, Medicare will appear on the list AFTER you add your licence, there is no need to use passports or other ID, only if you don’t have a licence or Medicare.
  • If you are stuck in MyGovID and can’t verify ID, uninstall the app and re-install it. This will allow you to start again, then follow the tips above
  • If you have locked your MyGovID call the support number on 13 33 92
