Take away craft packs

Come to the library to collect a free craft pack to take home and make yourself. Packs are designed for children over 5 years old and may require some cutting, pasting and sticking at home.

Choices available include:

  • Superhero masks
  • Folded Fans
  • Bookmarks
  • Wild animal masks

Get in quick before they are all gone! Packs are available at both Augusta and Margaret River Libraries.

Try Librarycraft

Calling all Minecraft players! Librarycraft is a free Minecraft Java Edition server for 7 to 17 year olds in Western Australia. You can take part in monthly competitions, play Survival or Creative, and get stuck into mini games!

Regular Baby Rhyme Time, Storytime and Toddler Tales sessions take a break over school holidays. Sessions resume during school term, commencing Monday 18 July. 

Prehistoric animals activities at the Margaret River Library

Wednesday 6th and repeated on 13th July

Session for ages 5 to 8 years, 10.30am – 12pm

Learn about prehistoric animals and make a Meganeura (giant dragonfly) followed by a dinosaur hunt for a chance to win giveaways

Session for ages 9 to 12 years, 2pm – 4pm

Create a Line drawing ‘Pop Art style’ of Prehistoric creatures followed by a dinosaur hunt for a chance to win giveaways

Children’s Book of the Year shortlist

Each year the Children’s Book Council of Australia give us a selected list of the best children’s books from the past year, in six categories:

  • CBCA Book of the Year: Older Readers
  • CBCA Book of the Year: Younger Readers
  • CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood
  • CBCA Picture Book of the Year
  • Eve Pownall Award
  • CBCA Award for New Illustrator

The winners of Children’s Book of the year will be announced during Children’s Book Week on Friday 19th August. In the meantime, you are welcome to place a hold on any shortlisted titles using our library catalogue.
