Lego Club

Join our one-hour long Lego Club session to take on new challenges with all Lego provided. Best suited to children over 5 years and bookings are essential.

Book Stars Club

A Book Club for kids aged 8 to 11 years old and held on the first Monday of each month. No Bookings required, just turn up for fun book related activities, snacks and chats.

Book Launch

Do you have a picky eater or a child learning to read? Join speech pathologist/author Narelle Wynter and award-winning local illustrator Rebecca Cool for the library launch of their fun book I’d Rather Eat Chocolate.

Book reading, craft, veggie snack, book sales and signings all available.

Best suited to kids aged 3-8 years

Snake safety and reptile myth busting

The Discover Deadly team will be visiting the library to chat about how to stay safe around snakes and reptiles and give participants the chance to interact with reptiles that live at the centre. Best suited to kids over 5 years old.

The Shire libraries will be hosting two storytime sessions with the Australian Red Cross based on the Birdie story books. The Birdie books aim to teach young children about different emergencies and how to stay calm in stressful situations with fun activities and interactive stories.

Toddler Tales is on at Augusta Library this Thursday 14th September at 10.30am. Children and their caregivers are welcome to this special storytime aimed at Toddlers which contains a story, songs, rhymes, craft and morning tea.

Book Stars Club 

For 8 to 11 year olds and held on the first Monday of each month at the Margaret River Library, meet at 4pm for a 4.15 start with our next meeting being 4th September.

During Book Stars we chat about what we have read over the month, give recommendations, and do a book related craft activity.

This is a FREE after school activity and no bookings are required. Please note children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult in the library.

Teens aged 12 years old and over are invited to join us at Margaret River Library for Book Chat Club on Monday 28th August at 4pm for a 4.15 start.

At our Book Chat Club meetings we talk about the books we have read and give reviews and recommendations to other club members.

Book Chat Club is free with snacks provided and bookings are not required, simply head to the library at 4pm.

Thanks to funding from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the support of Healthway and the Fuel to Go & Play message, and Children’s Book Council of Australia WA Branch; the Shire Libraries are hosting children’s book authors Cristy Burne and Shane L Montague to celebrate CBCA Book Week 2023.

On Thursday 24 August at 4pm, there is a special after school Book Week activity with author Shane L. Montague visiting Margaret River Library to chat about his book The race car that Toby built.

 All the family are welcome to come to Margaret River Library to meet Shane and hear about the book that is based on the true story of a grandpa and grandson building a race car together. The actual race cart from the book will be appearing at the library for you to check out and there will also be free healthy snacks provided.

Students from Margaret River Montessori Primary, St Thomas More Catholic Primary School, Augusta Primary school and local Home school students will have the opportunity to meet author Cristy Burne on Wednesday 30 and Thursday 31 August at both Margaret River and Augusta Libraries.

Cristy is passionate about empowering our next generation of creative, science-savvy citizens. A writer of children’s fiction and non-fiction, Cristy has published 11 books – including two CBCA Notables – and has been shortlisted for the WA Young Readers Book Award, the Wilderness Society’s Environment Award for Children’s Literature, and the WA Premier’s Book Award.

Happy reading and Children’s Book Week!

The whole community is invited to Margaret River Library on

Thursday 24th August at 4pm

to meet children’s book author Shane Montague for Children’s Book Week.

Shane will chat to us about his book The race car Toby built and how he created the story and the process of getting published. Shane will also explain the true story of how he built a race cart with his grandson, including tips and tricks for doing it yourself.

There will also be a special surprise for kids to see the actual race cart at the end of the session and some healthy snacks and refreshments will be provided.

We really hope to see you at the library at this free event Celebrate Children’s Book Week.
