Book Stars Club for kids aged 8 to 11 years old

Book Stars Club 

For 8 to 11 year olds and held on the first Monday of each month at the Margaret River Library, meet at 4pm for a 4.15 start with our next meeting being 7th August.

During Book Stars we chat about what we have read over the month, give recommendations, and do a book related craft activity.

This is a FREE after school activity and no bookings are required. Please note children under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult in the library.

Make a book at the Book Cubby

Come to the Margaret River Library to make your own “hot dog” book at the Book Cubby. The cubby is a mini maker space for creating your own book so visit the Margaret River Library to either create a book to take home and keep or make one to stay in the Book Cubby and be read by others.

Book into a workshop to get all the skills to make a special “hot dog” book or just come anytime to the cubby to design your own. Best suited to anyone school aged, over 5 years old.

Lego Club

Join our one hour long Lego Club session to take on new challenges. Best suited to children over 5 years and bookings are essential. This free activity has all Lego provided.

The Augusta Library Lego Club also features craft activities for all ages.

Please book only one session per child to allow as many people as possible the chance to attend.

All school holiday activities are FREE at the Shire Libraries; however bookings are essential, and children must be accompanied by an adult for each session.

Regular Baby Rhyme Time, Storytime and Toddler Tales sessions take a break over school holidays. Sessions resume during school term, commencing Monday 17 July. 

Book Chat Club for teens aged 12 and over

Teens aged 12 years old and over are invited to join us at Margaret River Library for Book Chat Club on Monday 26th June at 4pm for a 4.15 start.

At our Book Chat Club meetings we talk about the books we have read and give reviews and recommendations to other club members.

Book Chat Club is free with snacks provided and bookings are not required, simply head to the library at 4pm.

CBCA Book of the Year Shortlist announced

Congratulations to all the CBCA Book of the Year Shortlisted authors and illustrators!

Each year the Children’s Book Council of Australia give us a selected list of the best children’s books from the past year, in six categories:

  • CBCA Book of the Year: Older Readers
  • CBCA Book of the Year: Younger Readers
  • CBCA Book of the Year: Early Childhood
  • CBCA Picture Book of the Year
  • Eve Pownall Award
  • CBCA Award for New Illustrator

The winners of Children’s Book of the year will be announced during Children’s Book Week on Friday 12th August. In the meantime, you are welcome to place a hold on any shortlisted titles using our library catalogue.
