Nominate your Happy Place and win a Canon Camera!

The WA Local Government Association is inviting you to nominate your favourite Local Government happy place. If you participate, you could win a Canon EOS DSLR Camera AND star in a Happy Place TV commercial!

Just take a photo (or shoot some video footage) of your happy place, and upload it with some words about why this place is important to you.

Plastic free July at the Library

The library is celebrating Plastic Free July with a competition. Just visit the library and put your details in the entry box. There are adult and children’s prizes so everyone has a chance to win. Prizes include wax wraps, go mugs, keep cups, water bottles, pack of metal straws, reusable lunch pockets, reusable produce bags and more. The Library Plastic Free July display encourages visitors to write their own ideas of how to reduce plastic use in the home. The idea goes on the display to inspire others. Winners notified at the end of July.

Did you know the library has a Boomerang Bag swap box? If you have had the pleasure of using a Boomerang Bag and have finished with it, you can recycle it at the library. If you are in the mood to learn to sew your own shopping bags the following events have been organised by Cape to Cape Plastic Free July.

 

Armadale Writers’ Award 2017

Entries are now open!

The inaugural Armadale Writers’ Award is a creative writing competition open to all adult amateur writers living in Western Australia.

Works must be original prose and have a 1000 – 4000 word count. Entries will be judged on the originality of themes, plot development, story structure, and the overall quality of the writing. This award will be judged by a panel of local authors and librarians.

Prizes are: 1st prize of $1000, 2nd prize of $750 and 3rd prize of $500.

Entries will be accepted online only until the end of 30 September 2017. It is important that entrants read the Terms and Conditions to guarantee eligibility.
