Miriam will facilitate a workshop on the theme of ‘Writing about home: the poetry of complicated journeys’. This workshop will guide participants in finding their own voice and stories on this theme, with a focus on metaphor as a poetic device. This 2 hour event is FREE and easily accessible, with light refreshments included.
Spaces are limited for this workshop. Please RSVP to Email: amrlibrary@amrshire.wa.gov.au or Ph: 9780 5600

Light refreshments provided after the talk with the chance to purchase a copy of Miriam’s book.
Miriam lived in Margaret River for 11 years (some of you might remember her as Miriam Lochore), and many of the poems in this collection are set in Margaret River. Miriam loves to perform her work and we are honoured that she will present her poetry to a local audience. Her poems are accessible and engaging and should appeal, not only to those who identify with her faith perspective, but also to those who are interested in embodied female experience, to lovers of poetry, and to anyone who likes to ask big questions.
RSVP to reserve a seat. Email: amrlibrary@amrshire.wa.gov.au or Ph: 9780 5600
Who Comes Calling? is Miriam’s latest poetry collection, recently published by Western Australian Poets Press.

This is a gentle introduction to a mindful activity in a welcoming and easily accessible space to create a ‘Mandala of Seasons’
Have you ever thought about what each of our seasons of the year mean? Is there spiritual, cultural or personal connections for you throughout the seasons? Do symbols, colours or smells come to mind and what they represent? Why not sit back, explore and watch your design unfold under the guidance of workshop presenter, Dawn Burke.
All materials are provided including light refreshments. This free activity suits all abilities.
Space is limited so please RSVP. For more information Email: amrlibrary@amrshire.wa.gov.au or Ph: 9780 5600

A Short Story …
The name of the gallery ,’The Cocoon’, prompted me to ‘open the lid’. For over 25 years I have had two items in an old OXO stock cube tin on which it says ‘KEEP THE LID CLOSED’.
A little seahorse and an ancient cup handle, found in the desert.
Come along to the Cocoon Gallery for Emerging Artists to see how Karen has expressed her story into beautifully presented photographs printed onto stretched frames.
On display from now until 22nd December in the entry to the Margaret River Library. Artworks are for sale through the artist.
