‘No One Was Watching’ provides an alternative, imaginative entree into the once-hidden world of ‘Forgotten Australians’, a cohort of non- Indigenous men and women who were institutionalized as children. As one anonymous care-leaver begged ‘ Let our histories be visible’. The author hopes her book does just that and that these stories remind us of both our individual and collective roles in protecting children and promoting their welfare and safety into the future. Dr Annie Horner (PhD), Alumni of the Edith Cowan University South West campus, launched ‘No One Was Watching’ in May 2019. She will be speaking at the Margaret River Library about her book and presenting her valuable research behind writing her novel.
Come along to meet local author Lily Malone and hear about her latest book recently published called ‘Last Bridge Before Home’. Copies of her books will be available for purchase and light refreshments will be served after her talk. Please RSVP to amrlibrary@amrshire.wa.gov.au or Ph: 9780 5600
