As of 6pm tonight, the libraries will return to pre-lockdown hours, which means you can visit the Margaret River Library from 10am tomorrow, Saturday 6th February.

Augusta Library will be open from 10am on Tuesday 9th February.

Well done to all our community for complying with the temporary lockdown and ensuring we could all get back to our current version of ‘normal’ 🙂

Please look out for any changes issued by the WA Government at  https://www.wa.gov.au/ as this may result in further changes to Shire facilities opening hours and services.

Keeping the kids entertained (while they learn new skills!)

Swopbots and Rainforest Coding are e-resources that teach kids how to code in a fun and entertaining way – it’s like playing a game, except you get to make the creative decisions!

Update on library services during Covid lockdown

Library staff have been busily investigating how we can best serve our community during this trying time. We’ve been through lockdown before, but this time the rules imposed by the State Government are a little different.

This is what you need to know (and please spread the word!):

  • Libraries are not permitted to offer Click & Collect during the current lockdown, but don’t worry – we’ll be holding on to your reserved items for an extra few weeks to make sure that you don’t miss out! As soon as pick-ups are permitted again, we’ll let you know.
  • We’re also required to close our After Hours Book Return chute, so please hang on to your items for now. We don’t mind if they are overdue – you won’t be penalised for that. We are in the process of organising the renewal of all current loans, so don’t be surprised if your due-back date suddenly changes.
  • Online resources are available so that you can still enjoy a fresh supply of books, magazines and movies. Click here to explore the range.

As always, we are here to help and support our community. If you have any concerns about your membership, or need guidance on how to access e-resources, please contact us at amrlibrary@amrshire.wa.gov.au   Please note: Our staff are currently working from home, so please email us rather than phone the libraries.

Stay home, stay safe and be kind to each other! We look forward to seeing you all again on the other side.

Libraries closed for the week

As of 6pm today, our region (along with Perth and Peel regions) is entering another period of lockdown.

The Margaret River and Augusta Libraries will be closed for at least the next 5 days. Please don’t be concerned if you have items due back – nobody in our community will be penalised for late returns during this challenging time.

Stay home, stay safe and stay tuned for more news from us about what services will be available to you this week 🙂

Centre For Stories: supporting local readers and writers

We want to introduce our avid readers and aspiring writers to Centre For Stories – a literary arts and cultural organisation that aims to help us to connect with each other, and with the stories of our diverse communities.

Centre For Stories is based in Perth and closely connected with the Margaret River Press. It offers a variety of services around creating and telling stories. There are regular events in which you can participate online, to discuss literature or improve your own writing. If you’re interested in female authors, then you’ll love the Fem Book Club! Or you might prefer tuning in to a live storytelling session about Forbidden Love, or joining the Poetry Workshop 🙂
