Save the Date! January 25th is the book launch by Helen Allan

Join us to celebrate the launch of the Cassie’s Coven series of 3 novels by Helen Allan at the Margaret River Library. This is a family friendly event for the school holidays.

 Thursday, January 25th, 6 – 7:30 pm

The series is aimed at readers aged 8-11 years who enjoy magic and mystery. Each book follows the lives of four little girls from the small South West town of Witchborough as they use magic and girl power to solve environmental mysteries that have the potential to wreak havoc in their small town. In the spirit of Nancy Drew, these young girls will delight readers with their mystery solving abilities, animal familiars, their horses and their magic. Light refreshments provided along with the chance to meet the author, buy a signed copy of the books and perhaps win a lucky door prize!

RSVP by Wednesday 24 January to the library on ph: 9780 5600 or amrlibrary@amrshire.wa.gov.au

We are eSmart!

We are excited to announce that the Augusta and Margaret River Libraries are now officially accredited eSmart Libraries!

eSmart is an initiative of Telstra and the Alannah and Madeline Foundation, aimed at encouraging participation online while promoting safe, smart and responsible online behaviour.

Over the past year, we’ve reviewed many of our procedures, ranging from updating our Code of Conduct to include digital behaviour, to ensuring that our patrons have access to information about scams, online bullying and privacy.

We’ve added a simple link to our website so that anybody can find their way to the eSmart resources page and learn new digital skills, or find out how to keep themselves and their families safe online.

We invite all our community to visit the Library Services Online Resource page on the Shire website and click on the eSmart link. There is information that is suitable for different ages and situations, and we feel sure that it will be of benefit to anyone with questions about digital participation and safety.

The eSmart Library project will be ongoing, with further changes made as necessary to reflect the rapidly changing digital environment.

Library staff are always happy to assist the community if anybody needs help accessing digital safety information.
