The Cocoon Gallery presents a photographic exhibition by Fred Rose

August 1st – September 30th

Fred has spent forty years as a gold prospector and promised himself to take up photography when he retired. With a collection of beautiful photographs printed onto canvas, his new career is well and truly under way. His works on display are all for sale with the opportunity to buy limited edition prints online.

There is a small story behind each photo that is documented and available for you to read in the gallery. “Little Red” for example:

Little Red, Leonora This is a photo of a breakaway in the East Murchison Goldfields (North of Leonora). I did not come across this breakaway while detecting, but while looking for a lost prospector. We were on motor bikes and working north of Wilsons patch checking bush tracks for the lost prospector. Unknown to us, he had already been found, alive and well. We got the good news when we called in on a CB radio.

Thirty Five years later and with my first camera I took this photo. It was taken with the last 20 seconds of sunlight. One of my favourites.
