The Shire of Augusta Margaret River Libraries are celebrating Children’s Book Week for the whole month of August! Children’s Book Week is an annual event whereby all around the country schools, libraries, bookshops, authors, illustrators and storytellers celebrate the fantastic array of children’s books that are produced in Australia.
The award winning Children’s Book of the Year titles and shortlisted books are on display at the Margaret River Library for you view. You can find the whole list of Australia’s most influential children’s literary awards, which is divided up into 6 categories, on the Children’s Book Council of Australia website.
Author Sian Turner and illustrator Rebecca Cool will present sessions together, the first time an author and illustrator have co-presented at our libraries, for local primary school students. Sian and Rebecca will talk to us about their recently published title Can I come too, Eliza-Lou? a beautiful book full of delightful text and stunning artwork. The sessions at Margaret River library and Augusta Primary School Library on the 29th August are already booked out, with students from Margaret River Primary, Montessori Primary, St Thomas More Catholic Primary, Karridale Primary and Augusta Primary schools in addition to homeschooled families coming to listen to Sian and Rebecca talk about how they have created their recent book, published by Wild Eyed Press.
