The libraries are friendly, easily accessible and comfortable places to spend some time when out and about in the community.
As well as being dementia friendly places to visit, the Margaret River and Augusta Libraries provide resources that can assist people living with dementia, inform their family and friends and their carers. Pop in to say hello and just ask if you need a hand to find what you are looking for.
The Dementia Friendly Town project, an initiative of Alzheimer’s WA, empowers rural communities to support people living with dementia to live as well as possible for as long as possible. With support from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and the local Rotary and Lions Clubs, Alzheimer’s WA has worked with the local community, including businesses, in a whole of town approach to becoming dementia friendly.
Videos made during the project highlight how we can all help to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia in our town. Alzheimer’s WA has kindly given permission to use the Margaret River videos available online at www.alzheimerswa.org.au “Copyright to Alzheimer’s WA 2020”
