Lynnie has been living in the South West for the past 42 years, after a childhood in California. She graduated from Edith Cowan University in Visual Arts and has been painting ever since. Lynnie’s work is influenced by the many years she spent working at sea, in the Mediterranean and other exotic places in the world. With her paintings, she wants to focus on how beautiful and precious our oceans are and the need to treat them with respect and sustainability.

The subject of little boats can also be viewed as a metaphor, representing transition or movement, the journey our lives can take in sunny times and cloudy.

Each of the artworks are for sale through the artist and the exhibition remains on display at the Augusta Library into 2025. The Augusta Library is an easily accessible venue and the exhibition can be viewed when the library is open: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 10am – 12pm and 1pm – 4pm.

Workshop: Tips on How to Use ChatGPT

To celebrate Get Online Week, we are hosting a very special workshop.

Wednesday, October 16th 1pm to 2 pm – Tips on how to use ChatGPT

Scott Robinson from thebox in Busselton will bring his expertise to the Margaret River Library for a fun and interactive session suitable for all ages.

Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and explore how ChatGPT can deliver different results. Expect to laugh and learn in this live demonstration with audience participation.

The workshop will cover:

  • Using ChatGPT and AI (Artificial Intelligence) for good
  • A different approach to getting the most out of ChatGPT
  • Tips on how to use it.

Change to Hours on Friday 18 October

Margaret River Library will be open from 10am to 12pm only on Friday 18th October. We will be closed from 12pm to enable the library team to attend staff training. We apologise for any inconvenience.

The Library opens again on Saturday 19th at 10am.

Come and Have a Go at Emerging Technologies

From October 15th to 18th, the libraries will host a series of events to celebrate Get Online Week.

Suitable for all ages, the events are designed to give people the opportunity to have a go with emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR). Come and have a go at using a 3D printer or play with our Sphero robots.

Members of our community will be able to have their tech and digital questions answered in a one-on-one 10-minute consultation with our Digital Mentors.

And the week closes with an important workshop to learn more about scams and how to stay safe online.

Digital Tutoring Continues Thanks To New Funding

We are excited to announce that Augusta Margaret River Libraries received funding under the Learning for a Better World Trust and the FOLA  Australia Country Library 2024 Program. The funding is designed to assist Regional, rural and remote libraries for a diverse range of projects, and we are one of 79 libraries to receive the funding.

The $1,500 grant will allow us to keep delivering our necessary Digital Training Program as one-on-one sessions and small group workshops.

FOLA President Jack Goodman says, “Country libraries are at the heart of the community, providing havens where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to share ideas, learn new skills and connect with each other.”

Currently the library provides one-on-one sessions on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. If you would like to understand more about your phone, tablet, or learn how to use your laptop, please contact the library to book a session. Ph: 9780 5600 or Email Ana: abrawls@amrshire.wa.gov.au 

You don’t need to be library member to access the digital tutoring program.
