The Margaret River Library is clearing some books that no longer have a place on our shelves. If you would like to help in our effort to recycle books, pop in for a browse. Titles are .50c each.

The Library Service is now subscribing to Australian Motor Cycle News and our first issue has arrived.
As with all our magazines, the latest copy is available for Holds, and the back issues will be available to borrow.

This session will focus on sharing a low impact lifestyle through the gift of giving. We will be creating a range of gifts for you to share with your nearest and dearest. This is also a great session to bring the kids along to (suitable for 10 years+). The items we will be demonstrating include: toasted muesli, beeswax wraps, keyrings, dukkah, homemade crackers and more! In addition to this interactive session, a range of other Christmas making and wrapping ideas will be on display to highlight the endless possibilities of reducing waste this Christmas.

If you are 10 to 14 years old and love books, come to Book Chat at Margaret River Library this Monday at 4.30pm for recommended reads and fun book related activities.
As this is the last session for the year we are having a special book swap. Bring in up to 3 of your favourite books to swap with others and find your new favourite read.
Margaret River Library is hosting a community celebration to recognise the work of visual artist Dr Michael Wise and current Cocoon Gallery exhibitor and conceptual artist Natalia Ford.
The event, scheduled for 6pm to 7.30pm on Thursday 28 November 2019, will include a hosted interactive discussion about the individual approaches the artists took to achieve their works, and the many aspects of art.
Dr Michael Wise’s said his research and art practice is a convergence of the creative processes of video, painting, photography and sculpture.
“Every artist lived experiences contribute to their art practice,” he said.
“My works responds to my life experiences at the beach and the dangers which are embedded in its image of scenic beauty.”
Ms Ford said her discussion will be about the personal journey she took to achieve her displayed exhibition titled “The Through”.
“It’s an opportunity to get a deeper understanding of the life perspectives that I refer to for my art inspiration.”
“This eclectic event promises to be a treat for the arts community and the general public alike.”

Margaret River Library is an accessible venue.
The Cocoon Gallery is the library’s exhibition space used for talent emerging local artists. Exhibitions rotate approximately every two months.
Don’t forget the Tasmania travel talk by Dr Pam Lynch is on tonight, 6 – 7:30pm. All welcome.
We also have a few spaces left for the Snake Awareness training this Saturday in the 12pm and 2pm sessions. The training is aimed at ages 16+ and each session is 1.5 hrs duration.
Also, the Discover Deadly crew will be in the library all day Saturday with a display of information and live reptiles for families to experience Snake Awareness Day without attending the workshop. We are open Saturday 9am – 4pm.

Celebrate Seniors Week with morning tea at the Margaret River Library. Entertainment includes the Montessori School Choir, general knowledge quiz, lucky door prizes, aromatherapy hand massages and Kim Fuller will be on hand to talk to guests one-on-one about staying fit and healthy at home. Come to Augusta Library on Thursday 14th November at 10.30am for stories, rhymes, songs and morning tea. Bookings are required, phone 9780 5602 to reserve your place. 
Discover deadly will be running workshops to teach snake identification, safety around snakes and correct first aid treatment for snake bite. Venomous and non venomous snakes will be on display with the opportunity to cuddle a python. Sessions are professional, informative, safe and fun. They are designed for teachers, carers, outdoor workers and business owners who might encounter snakes in their work day. We’re at the South East corner of Tasmania and we’ve just completed the Three Capes Track walk and we’ve loved every minute. Come and listen as Dr Pam Lynch takes you on a trip along this track in a beautiful part of the country and see what this area of Tasmania has to offer.
