Inter-library loans delay

The State Library of WA is currently experiencing some technical difficulties, and this is impacting the inter-library loan process.

Although our patrons can find SLWA items and request them using our local catalogue, these requests cannot be processed by SLWA until the technical issues have been resolved.

Inter-library loans requests are currently being recorded as they are placed, and will be processed as soon as the SLWA system is operational again – there is no need to place extra requests for the same item.

SLWA is working hard to fix this issue, but in the meantime, please anticipate a longer-than-usual delay in the processing of your inter-library loan requests.

Thanks for your patience!

Call out for CoderDojo mentors!

The Margaret River CoderDojo is seeking volunteers to be Mentors at the club, which is hosted at the Margaret River Library on Friday after school.
This is not only a very rewarding activity, but it also looks great on your CV!
CoderDojo is a volunteer-led, worldwide movement of free coding clubs for 7-17 year-old kids (Ninjas). Ninjas who come along can learn how to code and improve their digital literacy skills by working with others in an inclusive, respectful and friendly social environment.
Who is involved?
Ninjas: Young people aged 7-17 who come along to learn how to code and improve their digital literacy skills.
Champions: The coordinator for Dojo sessions. You don’t need to know how to code to be a Champion!
Mentors: Passionate people who support the Champion and assist the Ninjas. Mentors range from uni students, to parents, to IT professionals who are looking to share their knowledge. All Mentors are required to obtain Working With Children clearance.
The Margaret River CoderDojo meets 4pm – 5.30pm on Fridays during school term, at the Margaret River Library.
So far the club has worked with Scratch, robotics, digital art, 3D printing, and much more, sometimes working together in groups, and other times following individual interests.
If you would like to volunteer to be a Mentor at the Margaret River CoderDojo, please contact Jodie Porter on 9780 5600 or jporter@amrshire.wa.gov.au
