Online safety – for all ages

Shire’s libraries are working towards accreditation as an eSmart Library Service.

As part of this initiative we are providing easy access to a wide range of resources to assist you to:

  • Develop your online skills – including self-paced courses tailored for Senior citizens
  • Improve your online awareness of scams, cyber-attacks and other online threats
  • Improve online safety for your children and yourself
  • Have a better understanding of online bullying and how to report it (for all ages)
  • And heaps more, including issues around illegal behaviour, copyright issues and inappropriate content

Links to these resources can be found on your library website, in both the general and the youth Online Resources pages:

What is YourTutor?

It’s online, one-to-one help for students in years 3-12 with homework and study questions, a free service offered by the Shire of Augusta Margaret River libraries.

Students can get help with questions in maths, writing, English, science and more, by connecting to a network of qualified subject experts on-demand, or by uploading a written file any time for feedback within 24 hours.

The YourTutor ‘online classroom’ includes a typed chat with a live tutor, an interactive whiteboard where you can draw with the tutor, and expert assistance from a real person to help you get unstuck.

When and how?

Log in here or follow the links from amrlibraries.com and log in by using your Shire library card number, for free.

Live tutors are available Sunday – Friday, 1pm – 10pm or you can upload your writing draft 24/7 any time you like, and your file will be returned to you with helpful feedback in less than 24 hours.
