Children’s Book Week 2020 is almost upon us, so here is an opportunity to get familiar with some of Australia’s best writers for young readers, and understand why they have been shortlisted by the Children’s Book Council of Australia.
Today we are featuring the shortlisted titles for older readers (13 to 18 years of age). Please click on the image to place a hold on the item.
Navigating life as a parent is as challenging as it is rewarding. Sometimes you meet these challenges spot on, but sometimes you could do with a little help from friends or family.
And other times you will look for answers or a bit of motivation from experts who have extensive knowledge of pregnancy, babies, raising kids, sleeping patterns and so on.
This week, we are featuring a few of those books, but we would also like you to know that we have many more resources to borrow here on the Parent Shelf at the Augusta and Margaret River libraries.
Titles with this symbol are also available as e-Books or e-Audiobooks
Some countries (like France and Italy!) are starting to re-open for tourism; however, here in Australia we are still waiting for the day we can hit the skies again.
That doesn’t mean you’re not allowed to dream and plan your next trip. With that in mind, we’ve got you covered with an array of new Lonely Planet guides available to borrow online with CloudLibrary.
From Austria to Azerbaijan, or from Madagascar to Mauritius – wherever your intended destination, click on the image below to explore the collection.
Need help accessing CloudLibrary or any of our other Online Resources? No problem, click here to find some short video tutorials as well as written guidelines, that will explain it all to you.

The libraries are friendly, easily accessible and comfortable places to spend some time when out and about in the community.
As well as being dementia friendly places to visit, the Margaret River and Augusta Libraries provide resources that can assist people living with dementia, inform their family and friends and their carers. Pop in to say hello and just ask if you need a hand to find what you are looking for.
The Dementia Friendly Town project, an initiative of Alzheimer’s WA, empowers rural communities to support people living with dementia to live as well as possible for as long as possible. With support from the Shire of Augusta Margaret River and the local Rotary and Lions Clubs, Alzheimer’s WA has worked with the local community, including businesses, in a whole of town approach to becoming dementia friendly.
Videos made during the project highlight how we can all help to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia in our town. Alzheimer’s WA has kindly given permission to use the Margaret River videos available online at www.alzheimerswa.org.au “Copyright to Alzheimer’s WA 2020”
“Do we all need to become vegetarian? How can we fly in a low carbon world? Should we frack?”… “Does it all come down to population?”… “What on earth can any of us do?” – There is no planet B by Mike Berners-Lee
