Mayakeniny – learn and engage with Noongar language and music

Mayakeniny (‘Sound dancing’) is a new online resource for both children and adults to engage with Noongar language and music.

Developed by Dr Clint Bracknell, Nan Roma Yibiyung Winmar and the team at Kurongkurl Katitjin, Edith Cowan University, it includes:

  • Noongar children’s songs with karaoke videos
  • Short webisodes for learning Noongar language
  • A searchable wordlist with references to historical documentation
  • And soon to come – a map of Noongar songs from the archives, and the music from Hecate, the Noongar-language adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
