Book Chat Club – for those aged 10 to 14 who love books!

Kids aged 10 to 14 years old are invited to join us at Margaret River Library for Book Chat Club on Monday 28th June at 4.15pm.

At our monthly Book Chat Club meetings we talk about the books we have read and give reviews and recommendations to other club members.

Book Chat Club is free, but bookings are required. Please phone Rachael on 9780 5602 or email rdrummond@amrshire.wa.gov.au to book your child’s place.

Special Jazz treat for seniors with Serge Le Goueff

Wednesday 23rd June, 10.30 – 11.30am

** The library is open to over 60’s on Wednesday mornings 10am – 12pm and open to all ages from 12 – 5.30pm.

Join us for a one hour jazz performance with old favourites like Frank Sinatra’s ‘Singing in the Rain’. Serge sings jazz classics beautifully and is a master of the saxophone so we are in for a treat. Space is limited so please RSVP to reserve your seat. New Books on Early Childhood Education

Our  Early Childhood Education collection has been updated, with new resources suitable for teachers and parents alike.

There is a wide range of topics to chose from, including outdoor learning,  sensory activities, special educational needs and computer skills in the early years. You can also find books on emotional intelligence and resilience.

Pioneers of the Western Australian Timber Industry: a talk by Don Briggs

Thursday 17th June, 5.30pm – 6.30pm at the Margaret River Library

Author Don Briggs offers a glimpse into the history of the WA timber trade including the periods of exploration, the settlement at King George Sound, the Swan River Colony, the forests of the South West and the people who made it happen. His research reveals lots of local places and names with lovely old images as well.

Don is the author of ‘Pioneers of the Western Australian Timber Industry’ and the biographical work ‘The Busettis of Cowaramup’. Both titles are in stock at the Margaret River and Augusta Libraries.

Nominate your Happy Place and win a Canon Camera!

The WA Local Government Association is inviting you to nominate your favourite Local Government happy place. If you participate, you could win a Canon EOS DSLR Camera AND star in a Happy Place TV commercial!

Just take a photo (or shoot some video footage) of your happy place, and upload it with some words about why this place is important to you.

The Footpath Library – providing access to e-books and e-audiobooks for everyone

Books are food for the mind and soul for anyone who loves to read.

The Footpath Library was developed to provide free access to books for everyone, and especially for those who may be experiencing particular hardship in their lives right now.

The Footpath Library provides free access to e-books and e-audiobooks without requiring you to provide identification or proof of address.

The library offers thousands of popular titles for children, teens and adults – plus a special selection of wellbeing titles aimed particularly at teens.

Held on the last Monday of each month, Book Chat Club is a place for ten to fourteen year olds to chat about their favourite books and reading.
