National Reconciliation Week is 27 May – 3 June

This year’s theme “More than a word. Reconciliation takes action,” aims to encourage people to actively take action in matters of inequality and inspire people to safeguard the basic rights of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples, raising the alarm when they are denied, ignored or diminished. The Reconciliation Report can be read here:  Reconciliation Report 2021

Jara is a local visual artist working with a diverse range of mediums including illustration, ink, water colour and spray paint. Her illustrations of the natural world celebrate the inextricable complexity and simplicity inherent in nature. The splashes of colour and stains throughout her work represent the fluidity of nature itself and our perceptions. She has facilitated many large-scale street art projects with disengaged youth as part of various community-based initiatives over the last ten years. With a deep respect for art and its power to transform others she is always using it as a catalyst for positive change.
