Pioneers of the Western Australian Timber Industry: a talk by Don Briggs

Thursday 17th June, 5.30pm – 6.30pm at the Margaret River Library

Author Don Briggs offers a glimpse into the history of the WA timber trade including the periods of exploration, the settlement at King George Sound, the Swan River Colony, the forests of the South West and the people who made it happen. His research reveals lots of local places and names with lovely old images as well.

Don is the author of ‘Pioneers of the Western Australian Timber Industry’ and the biographical work ‘The Busettis of Cowaramup’. Both titles are in stock at the Margaret River and Augusta Libraries.

The Footpath Library – providing access to e-books and e-audiobooks for everyone

Books are food for the mind and soul for anyone who loves to read.

The Footpath Library was developed to provide free access to books for everyone, and especially for those who may be experiencing particular hardship in their lives right now.

The Footpath Library provides free access to e-books and e-audiobooks without requiring you to provide identification or proof of address.

The library offers thousands of popular titles for children, teens and adults – plus a special selection of wellbeing titles aimed particularly at teens.

May Book Chat Club

Held on the last Monday of each month, Book Chat Club is a place for ten to fourteen year olds to chat about their favourite books and reading.

National Reconciliation Week is 27 May – 3 June

This year’s theme “More than a word. Reconciliation takes action,” aims to encourage people to actively take action in matters of inequality and inspire people to safeguard the basic rights of Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander peoples, raising the alarm when they are denied, ignored or diminished.
