Are things back to ‘normal’ at the library?

We are now in our 3rd week since the Margaret River Library re-opened its doors to the public. How time flies!

As State and Federal government directions change, so do we… From this week we were allowed to increase our maximum onsite numbers from 20 to 100 people, and the place is starting to hum again 😊

Some things are going back to ‘normal’ while some things have become the ‘new normal’ – and some things are sort of in-between and likely to change over time!

Here is an update on our current procedures:

  • Click & Collect is still available for patrons who prefer this method of delivery. Come to the back door and ring the bell – staff will bring your items to you.
  • We are also inviting our community to visit again via the front entry and say ‘hello!’ when returning or picking up items.
  • Items on Hold can be collected from within the library – just like you used to be able to do. If your item has a red bookmark, that means you need to check it out to yourself at the SmartServe (we’ll show you how if you’re feeling a bit rusty!)
  • Everybody who enters the building is required to provide contact details so it is really helpful if you have your library card with you.
  • All are reminded to sanitise their hands on entry and maintain social distancing (1.5m) – and please stay home if you are feeling at all unwell.
  • We offered a 3 month loan period during the closure, however since we’ve re-opened, items are currently given a 5 week loan period. If you have items that were given a 3 month loan period and you’ve finished with them, please return them soon because others may be waiting for them. Items that are more than 30 days overdue incur an admin fee, so if you are having difficulty getting in, please call us! 9780 5600
  • We are continuing to offer an ‘over-60s only’ session every Wednesday morning at the Margaret River Library from 10am to 12pm (but everybody is welcome after 12pm!)
  • Click & Collect is available from Augusta Library even though their doors are not yet open, and wifi is available from outside the library. Please click here for the latest information about opening times.

Finally, we want to say a big THANK YOU to our community for your continuing patience, compassion and concern for each other’s welfare. We are indeed ‘all in this together’ and we are grateful to have your support as we continue to deliver our library service. Stay safe and sane!
